Imagine everyday you wake up. People assume you cannot do as much as them or be as smart or smarter because of your gender or skin color and no matter where you go this thinking follows you around. This is life for many people and for some it is even worse. She’s the First club works with charities to help people who deal with problems like this.
She’s the First fights for equality for women and women’s right for education. They mainly help women in developing countries, but they do help in the United States and locally as well. There are many ways they help, but the main examples are craft fairs and candy grams. All the money they make is to charities that help people in need.
“So your craft show is your big one and [we] are also going to do halloween candy grams this year. We like to do that because it brings up the halloween spirits and is super good for raising money and normally we do something for valentines day with candy as well,” One of the presidents of the club senior Elizabeth Vollbrecht said.
The club is always looking for more people to join. There are two different ways to join; one is to enter the google classroom with the code hrjo6px or just come to one of the meetings. The next meeting is on October 9 at 7:40 in C110.
Piper Leete, a sophomore, just joined the club this year.
“I do recommend the club. I think it is a good way to be involved in this school and it is a good way to make an impact,” Leete said.
If people do decide to join, the club has so many fun experiences that they get to have and club members are also surrounded by a bunch of like-minded people, plus everyone gets so many fun memories all well helping a cause they believe in.
“I think meetings where we put together things like candy grams are really fun and you get to deliver and you get to hang out with people in the club and it is just fun to see everyone get the candy and be a part of the community,” another one of the senior club presidents Bailey Wenzlick said.
