Billie Eilish, an American singer and songwriter, recently released a new album named, “Hit Me Hard and Soft” on May 17, 2024. Eilish first gained attention in 2015 from her first debut single “Ocean Eyes”, written and produced by her brother Finneas O’Connell. Later on in 2019, she released her first album, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO,” that peaked at number one in 15 countries around the world including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. Also in 2019 she released the single “bad guy”. This single quickly became the number one song on Billboard Hot 100 charts, making Eilish the first artist born in the 21st century to get a number one song.

Before Ellish even released the album “Hit Me Hard and Soft”, fans had already listened to some of the songs. They found the unreleased songs and got really popular on TikTok. The songs “LUNCH” and “CHIHIRO” already had more than one million users using the sounds on TikTok before the album even released. There are a total of 10 songs on the album ranging from three to six minutes. Some songs on the album have a special meaning behind them. For example, “BLUE” is based off of a song Eilish and O’Connel made named “True Blue” when she was 14. It missed the cut on multiple of her previous albums until it was leaked which led her to release “BLUE” as an iconic statement. Another song is “CHIHIRO” which has 110 beats per minute, which is the only right tempo for Hands-Only CPR. That makes it the perfect song for fans to use if they ever need to perform CPR in an emergency situation. Eilish touches on many different topics throughout the album and conveys them in a touching way. This was our ranking.
